Recent remarkable advances in the area of computer hardware and software and the ensuing rise in popularity of this medium have brought about the increased use of computers in the process of creating works. To cope with this, since 1986 the 9th subcommittee of the Copyright Council has been discussing copyright issues relating to "computer-generated works"(computer graphics, mechanical translation. computer music, automatic programming and automatic data base production).
This subcommittee is, in view of the current state of computer generated works, examining the applicability of the Copyright Law presently in effect, as well as possible copyright ability and the ownership of copyright for computer generated works. The report is scheduled for completion by November 1993.
