On April 14, the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) and the Directorate-General for Research and Innovation (DG RTD) of the European Commission each announced the results of a call for applications on “Advanced Biofuels and Alternative Renewable Fuels” as a part of JST’s Strategic International Collaborative Research Program (SICORP).

SICORP supports international joint research in research areas prioritized by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT).

As a part of this joint effort, JST and DG RTD jointly implemented a call for international joint research proposals, the result of which saw 3 proposals selected for funding out of a total of 29 following an evaluation by Japanese and EU experts.

MEXT welcomes the selection of the three international joint research proposals by JST and the DG RTD, and expects that they will contribute to the realization of a decarbonized society, which is a common aim for Japan and the EU.
