Chapter 3. For the Protection and Utilization of Cultural Properties
3 Promotion of the Preservation and Utilization of Cultural Properties
2. Intangible Cultural Properties
(3) Public presentation
To preserve intangible cultural properties such as the performing arts and craft techniques, it is important that they are broadly supported throughout each respective era, and that they are held in esteem by the general public. Public presentation of intangible cultural properties provides opportunities for the appreciation of traditional performing arts and craft techniques, deepens people's level of recognition and understanding, and helps to increase the number of fans and supporters. Public presentation in itself encourages the designated status holder to develop and refine the level of his/her skill. It is also an important means of training successors.
