Chapter 2. Towards the Enrichment and Spread of Culture
2 The Rise of Local Art and Culture
3. Opportunities to Appreciate Art at the Local Level
(5) Touring exhibitions to local areas
The National Museums of Art send touring exhibitions consisting mainly of recently collected works of art to local museums. The Tokyo National Museum and other museums also hold touring exhibitions of old Japanese art at various places every year, providing local inhabitants with opportunities to appreciate works of art from their collections. There is a need to further enlarge touring exhibitions of nationally owned works of art in order to provide students and local inhabitants with chances to view high class works of art at close range.
